Year 4

In Year 4 we follow the National Curriculum and extend the skills children have learnt in Year 3. We teach English and maths every day and teach thematically across the foundation subjects ensuring purposeful and engaging learning. We use the ‘Mantle of the Expert’ approach to learning in which the children become ‘experts’ in a chosen field whether this is Roman soldiers, Celtic warriors or Robot designers. In addition to this Year 4 have outdoor learning each week. In the summer term Year 4 enjoy their swimming lessons at the local leisure centre.

Every term we produce a curriculum newsletter to share with parents. Please click below to see an example of this:

The children in Year 4 have lots of opportunities to learn with children from other schools in the Bury School Partnership. We also learn outside the classroom on exciting school visits. We always welcome visitors to come in and share our learning.

We have been working with our parent helper to sew our bookmarks.   Thank you for your help Mrs Dye.

We had a visit from Anglian Water.

Our favourite part was making sewage!

The maths leader from King Edward VI School planned and delivered lots of fun and exciting maths activities for both Sexton's Manor and Howard Primary Year 4 children as part of the Bury School Partnership.

We visited Pakenham Water Mill and learnt how wheat was turned into flour in the past.
Look at our fabulous learning!
