Year 1

In Year 1 we build on similar experiences that the Early Years Team create by learning through stimulating and creative play. We teach Phonics, English and Maths every morning. We link learning to ‘Mantle of the Expert’ and make learning purposeful and practical. Each week children participate in ‘outdoor learning’. The children explore the outside area and complete a range of activities including making a bug hotel, planting and watering, mud painting and making a wormery.

We wrote sentences about the best things that we have received in the post.

We went hunting for shapes around the school and explored all the different ones.

We then created our own shape pictures using the shapes we had spotted.
